Lyndex-Nikken has announced the introduction of the new Taper Plus dual face contact toolholder system. Lyndex-Nikken will offer a multitude of different style toolholders in the Taper Plus line, including High Torque ER Collet Chucks, end mill holders, and high precision advanced toolholders.
Taper Plus holders are ground to an extremely tight tolerance, assuring maximum contact between the machining spindles and the toolholder taper and flange. Ground to the same AT2 standard of machine spindles, Lyndex Nikken guarantees the highest level of taper and flange contact. Flange grinding tolerances have been established to ensure taper and flange contact not only under heavy duty cutting conditions, but also for high RPM applications where Z height variation can occur due to centrifugal and thermal expansion of the spindle. Taper Plus Toolholders are also interchangeable between Standard and Dual Face Contact spindles, allowing for greater flexibility.
The additional flange contact allows up to 53.3% more surface area contact than just the taper alone. The added surface contact creates additional static stiffness and dampening characteristics, making it the ideal design for aggressive roughing, high feed machining, and for finishing.
